LIAR SINGLE by THE OUT Album Artwork Illustration
LISTEN ON YOUTUBE PROJECT OVERVIEW The illustration for this single album titled Liar was completed for the band The Out. The inspiration was taken from the song by the band and represents the power of manipulation found in a lie. The band wanted to create a simple card stock sleeve for the 7" single that could be cheaply printed in quantities fit for demand. 
The piece was a simple pencil sketch, scanned and edited in Adobe Photoshop with added typographic elements and a band image complete with a die-line package design using Adobe Illustrator and edited in Adobe InDesign. METHODOLOGY The band recorded a live studio performance of one of their songs to release as a single, and asked me to illustrate and design the cover of the 7" single. After listening to the song, the band said they had a vision for the artwork to feature someone whispering in another person ear. This concept fell right in line with the theme of the song titled 'Liar.' Using graphite pencils, I sketched out the image of a woman whispering into a man's ear. The band really loved the imagery and didn't want to add color or ink. They felt the pencil sketch was strong enough. We then collectively talked about typography, and decided to take a risk using the word LIAR brazen across the cover with very low opacity so you can still see the sketch using Azo Sans Uber Regular for the font. As was a D.I.Y. project for the band, they asked me to design a dieline for the record sleeves so they could cut them out themselves, saving money. Designing the back cover, I used an image of the band and center aligned the text, maintaining the same color palette. typography
