aMD BUSINESS CARDS PERSONAL BRANDING BUSINESS CARD DESIGN
PROJECT OVERVIEW These business cards were design for my Senior Portfolio Graduation GD4990 class at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. AS part of our personal branding for graduation we were design a business card featuring our logo as part of a personal branding project. I designed the circular business cards modeled after a vinyl record and ordered the prints from Gotprint.com. The record album sleeve was designed using Adobe Photoshop, printed on a dieline, and I cut and constructed myself. METHODOLOGY Some of the most successful pieces in my portfolio are my album cover designs. A business card to me has always been a 'throw-away.' It is hard to really show an example of your work to a potential client with a bland piece of cardstock, that they will likely lose or ignore. I began looking for inspiration to create a card that would be more of a keep-sake, while featuring a sample of my work and creativity, and granting easy-instant access to my portfolio. I decided to model my business card concept after a vinyl record, and on the cover feature one of my most successful pieces along with my personal logo. Creating a more interactive and collectible concept, I plan to use the different album covers I have designed as new sleeves for the actual circular business card, to create a series. On the back of the album sleeve, I included a QR code, so the recipient can scan it with their smart phone, and go directly to my portfolio website. Creating a memorable business card, as a collectible series, and making it easy for the user to access my portfolio while having a physical example of my work in hand, really creates a thorough concept for self advertisement and communication. I used the same color palette and typography of my website and print portfolio to present a unified package. typography
